Whistle HI there. My husband grew up in Windsor. We are seriously considering moving back in the next year or so. I found this bulletin board and thought it would be a good way to see what people think of living there. It has been 20 years since my husband has been back there, although he does have a sister that still lives there. We have started looking at houses on the net and are coming down for a visit as soon as possible to check out the lay of the land. Anyone with ideas on where to live would be great. We are looking everywhere right now. And the cost of housing seems right. What about the job market though? We seem to get mixed reviews on that...

Welcome Cedra!

You are right about the housing market - Windsor is a buyers market right now and you can get just about anything in any price bracket from 30K Power of Sales to 300K's for thousands and thousands less Good
The job situations are totally different. We have people leaving Windsor to go out west looking for work daily. It all depends on what industry you are in currently. If you happen to be a doctor we could sure use more of those lol...
I'm not going to comment on your question about living here lol, if I had my way I would of left this city years ago, I do not like Windsor at all, for all sorts of reasons but others do like it so I guess that's personal preference and who am I to influence your decision lol Grin
Again, welcome! Where are you living now?

Hi Corey
We lived out west in Regina for 6 years. Moved back to small town Ontario because I wanted to be closer to family. Saskatchewan is great, but we are looking to remain in Ontario. My husband has a wide variety of job experience. Was a lab tech for many years and then went on to work in Informatics for the government. He now works maintance at a resort here where I work in the restaurant. I myself do a little everything in this area..
Totally understand your issues with Windsor right now. Have heard all the warnings... but still here we are.. LOL

My sister is a Lab Tech, she went to London for work years ago, but I'm not sure if that is something more in demand these days down in Windsor. Ontario is a great place to call home, but I'm not certain Windsor is the best (in my personal opionion) lol. I have family that moved north and never looked back. Neutral

Im from Argentina and will be moving to WINDSOR next March.
Just wondering if you could tell me anything about the job market. I have graduate in Foering Affairs and worked in Foreign Trade, Events organization, Customer Service and Marketing. I ve also worked in hotels and restaurants while travelling in New Zealand and Australia.

So anything that keeps me alive will do..any ideas?

Hi Im Jeff. I live in South Walkerville and lived in Windsor all my life. I work for Chryslers at the Windsor Assembly Plant. I really like the waterfront, parks, festivals and restaurants. I dislike the traffic congestion, city council and the way people have been running red lights lately(Just ridiculous) and you never see a cops around because they are all busy downtown arresting kids at the kiddy bars.
